Shizu grew up in Japan, where she started her dance training with Sakiko Ichinomiya Ballet School and danced with Michiko Baba Ballet Company and Dance Harbor Jazz & Modern Dance Company. She studied various dance styles of dance at places such as Ballet Arts, Dance space, Peridance School, Broadway Dance Center, and Steps on Broadway as well as performed with several choreographers and dance companies in New York such as Slam, Bryan Davice, Henning Rübsam, and Sensedance Company. While she was dancing with Sensedance Company, her dancing was recognized and reviewed on the major presses such as New York Times and Back Stage. She currently dances with Ad Deum Dance Company and Dance of Asian America performing solo and principal roles.
